a heart warming contemporary fairy tale
If you enjoyed the movie where Michael Douglas played the bachelor president in love with Annette Bennings' character(forgot the movies'name),you will love this. But where did they get the totally dredful cover art?It had nothing to do with the story inside.

This Book Left Me Wanting For MORE!
This is the First book I've read by this author and BOY WAS I IMPRESSED! This book spoke to the heart. The character were all too real to me. It just proved to me that emotion are very potent feelings, and you can be lead astray, by them, very easily. We could all take a lesson from this book. On a whole this was a beautifully written book. I only wish I could write 1/4 as well as this author. Ms. Rogers, please continue to write with the intensity and passion and realism you injected into this wonderful book, and I'll do my part by buying and reading them as fast as you can write them!!!

Cinderella does the White House in a great modern romance

At only thirty-nine, Stephen Marshall has been President of the United States for about a year. Already his advisors and his beloved Aunt Doris inform him that if he wants to be reelected he, being a bachelor, needs a woman by his side. To insure that no sex scandal impacts him, Stephen lives the life of a cold showering monk.

Ginny Baxter is Jane Q. Public citizen, who is on the tour of the White House, when her blood pressure medicine sends her looking for a bathroom. Somehow she clears the entire house without being stopped, ultimately running into the Secret Service and the President. Quick thinking Stephen selects Ginny as his political rescuer and invites her to attend a reception. She wonders if she is Cinderella or just the butt of a bad practical joke. The mother of a teenager and the country's most eligible bachelor begin to see each other and fall in love with one another. However, he is political suave and she is suburban baseball mom,

leaving no doubt that midnight will strike early for this unusual couple.

GOLDEN MAN is a contemporary American fairy tale that succeeds due to the immense talent of Evelyn Rogers. The story line, especially the night of the "disaster", seems so real because of the awesome skills of the writer. The lead players are charming, but it is the political hacks, sycophants, and friends of the president that turns Cinderella goes DC into a deserved crown of glory for Ms. Rogers.

Exciting and a wonderful read!
"Golden Palaces" (sequel to "Swords and Scimitars")is a book that won't disappoint you! This is historical fiction at its best! Tancred Jehan Redwan is in 1097 Constantinople amid the crusaders whose aim is to take Jerusalem from the Seljuk Turks. Tancred's heart is not in the crusade but he finds himself caught up in it despite his will and also gets involved with Helena Lysander, the beautiful Daughter of the Purple Belt who is being given in marriage to a Moslem prince another cousin of his. Tancred also searches for the assassin who killed his brother Derek. Helena is searching for her mother Adrianna who was banished from Constantinople by her aunt Irene and is believed to be in Jerusalem. She turns to the man she has wanted to marry for so long but Philip Lysander sees his opportunity to become emperor and sacrifices Helena for it. Helena then has no choice but to turn to Tancred who is the only one who could help her find her mother and elude the marriage. Will Tancred and Helena be able to evade her aunt's plots and schemes? Nicholas Lysander, Helena's maverick bishop-warrior uncle and godfather of Tancred entrusts Helena to Tancred's care. He had once loved Irene before she turned corrupted and was banished himself from Constantinople. Informed by his niece that Adrianna is still alive and possibly held captive by a sultan, he returns to Constantinople in the company of Bohemond's crusaders and confronts his past with Irene and his sworn enemy, the corrupted bishop,Constantine. This a great plot that moves smoothly along and never gets boring. You must read this book yourself if you do not understand my review! I strongly recommend this book for an thrilling and enjoyable read!

Golden Rules for Everyday Life (Izvor Collection, Volume 227)

A Book To Help You Get Past Yourself
My definition of this book would be:"spiritual tough-love".There are 114 totally different little incidents related in this book which all have a lesson for us. It was as if the author looked at 114 different aspects of a person's behavior and gave us some sound advice on how to conduct ourselves so that we would feel that we had atleast some spiritual backbone if we were ever in the same predicaments.

This is a book to read when you think that its time somebody got tough with you(meaning YOURSELF).If you're there now at that point, buy this book..you won't regret it.

it's the only way to live in the path of light
this book is really a treasure for anyone to read,to try to work on himself or herself to see things we do in our daily life without giving any imporatnce .it's time that we go deeper & give meaning to the smallest actions ,to spirutalize everything we do. if we can try to do what is written in this book! i think the whole world will be in peace. to summerize ,i love the harmony & peace in this book..

The most important book I've read
This isn't an oracle, but it is a man I consider to be a Master of cosmic laws and realities. That looming question most people have of 'why am i here', etc., are dealt with in an easy to understand, cohesive (sp?) manner. Not all of that twisted-back on itself confusion of 'sometimes yes, sometimes no' so called 'spiritual enlightenment', i find a lot books of this genre to be. If i was stranded on a desert island i would take his books above all others because the uplift and the make me think and change every aspect of myself for the better. I would go as far as to say he is the single most important influence in my life after my mother.

He never 'wrote' any of his books, they are transcribed from his taped lectures he gave many, many years ago in France.

Loved the book!
What a great concept. It has great color pictures and really beautiful old photos, too. I haven't tried very many of the recipes, yet, but the ones I tried were delicious. What a beautiful keepsake.

Truly a historic treasure.
The Golden Spoon is more than a recipe book, it's a historic treasure. I picked it up and couldn't stop reading the wonderful anecdotes, quotes and words of wisdom until I'd finished the whole thing. And the recipes - wow! The delicious food comes straight from Grandma's kitchen, so you know it's great. I can't wait for these authors to do another edition.

Great recipes, heartwarming stories on Grandmothers.
This book not only has wonderful recipes from grandmothers that are almost all very easy to make, and delicious, it also has wonderful quotes from grandmothers that touch your heart, make you laugh, or make you think. The writers have also written wonderful, brief stories on many of the grandmothers. I particularly enjoyed the story about gardening genius Lois Hole, and another grandmother: Joan Kraft. Five per cent of their sales go to Osteoporosis, so it makes you feel like you're also helping out when you buy this book. This concept was brilliant and the authors have done a fantastic job of it, including the beautiful 'packaging' - the color pictures of every recipe and the beautiful green, gold and burgundy cover. Bravo!

The Golden Treasury of Children's Literature
Published in Hardcover by Golden Pr (August, 1985)

A great selection of children's literature in one book
As a child I read this book and re-read it and re-read it so many times that my hardbound copy fell apart! What more can be said for the attraction of a book?

This treasury consists of complete stories as well as excerpts from classic books such as Winnie the Pooh, the Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland. It has variety of genres -- Aesops fables, Grimm's fairy tales, stories from the Arabian nights, as well as more contemporary work. One of my favorites, Turn on the Night, is a great story to help soothe children who are scared of the dark.

Additionally, the book is filled with wonderful illustrations. Each story has its own style, so there is something new and interesting on each page (almost).

I highly recommend this book for good readers in the early elementary grades and for all middle grade elementary readers. I enjoyed it much longer as a child, but it is sure to be appreciated by those grades.

A Wonderful Introduction to Other Children's Classics!
I can't remember a time when this book wasn't on our bookshelf in my parents' home. My father and mother took turns reading us the stories, and when I was old enough, I insisted on taking my turn to read aloud. I can't say enough good things about this collection, filled with beautiful and whimsical illustrations, exerpts from children's classics and unique stories that you may never have seen elsewhere. Many of the classic Grimm and Anderson fairy tales are presented in what is probably close to their original form (NOT P.C., but parents, don't worry - young children have an amazing capacity to absorb the grotesque without the fears that come with adolescence and adulthood). It also contains exerpts from such children's classics as "The Hobbit", "Peter Pan", "Alice in Wonderland", and "The Wind in the Willows". Another plus: the stories in this collection are not edited, re-worded, or otherwise scaled down for the young reader - a boon to those of us who understand that small children can and do learn "up" to the level of reading/conversation with which they are presented. Warning: Some of the fairy tales (like "Blue Beard") can be considered graphic and frightening - although small children may not be frightened at all due to a limited ability to absorb such imagery. Whatever you do, do NOT let the fear of a couple of gory fairy tales keep you from introducing your child to the likes of J.R.R. Tolkien, Oscar Wilde, Kenneth Grahame, A.A. Milne, and Lewis Carroll.

Awesome!
This is my favorite book, I received it when I was 10 and now my son discovered it in the school library and has almost finished it all. It has fabulous stories for all ages.

The Golden Voices of Baseball

"Aint the beer cold..."
My wife tricked me into a bookstore on my birthday on the pretense of looking for a book for her. Lo and behold legendary
sports analyst, Ted Patterson, was inside in the midst of a book signing for the above title. This was a treat! Mr. Patterson is an extremely knowledgeable gentleman who has been a fixture in the Baltimore sports scene for some time. I HAD TO HAVE THE BOOK!

The book, folks, is all that and more. If you grew up listening to O's games described to you by the incomparable Chuck Thompson - you will understand what I mean. Not only does the book provide history, but it also delves into the broadcaster's life. The cd's which accompanied the book made this a priceless momento. Kudos, Mr. Patterson!

The Golden Voices of Baseball
The story I have to tell is a wonderful and pleasant one. The author, Ted Patterson, and I were friends at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in the late sixties when Ted was working on his thesis for his Master's Degree in Communication and Theatre. What is not revealed in this book is that his thesis, "The Golden Voices of Sport" is the basis for the book, "The Golden Voices of Baseball." I was an integral part in helping Ted with typing and organization; I even traveled with him to Cincinnati for a one of the interviews with the sportscasters. Now thirty-five years later, Ted has contacted me here, still at Miami University and married. This has been an awesome experience down memory lane, which has flooded my mind with so many great moments in my life back then.

As to the book and the CDs, as I look back to the past as to how the thesis came about (50 tapes of broadcasters), and the number of years that passed until the book was finally published in 2002, this alone speaks volumes as to how valuable these tapes have become and now they are a reality for all to share. The book is very well written and most informative, with loads of great pictures and memories for all sports fans to share. I agree with Curt Gowdy, who has written the introduction, when he says that so many sportscasters are gone now, but their memory shall live on forever through this book.

Photographs, history, nostalgia, and commentary
Written by the award-winning sportscaster Ted Patterson, The Golden Voices Of Baseball is a vividly presented collection of brief biographical portraits of the great baseball announcers of radio history. Enhanced with an accompanying set of two CDS featuring captivating tracks of memorable sports callers in action The Golden Voices Of Baseball offers a truly exciting survey, filled throughout with black-and-white photographs, history, nostalgia, and commentary. An ideal gift for baseball enthusiasts, The Golden Voices Of Baseball is a unique and very highly recommended sports history.

Good Medicine: Four Las Vegas Doctors and the Golden Age of Medicine
Published in Hardcover by University of Nevada Press (June, 2000)
Author: Annie Blachley
Average review score:

Readable
"It's a very readable book. These are comfortable histories."

--Dr. Otto Ravenholt, Former Chief Health Officer, Clark County Health District, Las Vegas, Nevada

Just what the doctor ordered!
"Just what the Doctor ordered. Well written and very informative. But wait - doctors saw the same patients more than once? I guess in the days before HMO's, treatment was less of a gamble"

Excerpts from Published Reviews
"Annie Blachley's elegantly written Good Medicine offers a compelling look at how the medical profession has changed over the years, but more than that, it presents a fascinating picture of early-day Nevada and of the country and world during the war years and afterwards. Blachley's eye for detail is outstanding. This is one of the best books ever about how Nevada and Las Vegas came to be." --Larry Henry, former political editor of the Las Vegas Sun.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal's 6/7/00 article by Ben Rogers captures what this book is all about; excerpts from his article follow. "It was an era predating Medicare, Medicaid, HMOs and malpractice insurance, a time when doctors practiced the art of healing--a cheaper, simpler and more personal version of modern medicine....The 'Golden Age' of medicine ran from about 1940 to 1990 and was characterized by a more personal approach to patients. 'If you ask people today about their biggest problems with HMOs, they say that they never get enough time with their doctor,' said Blachley, a Nevada medical history enthusiast and author of Good Medicine. 'The majority of doctors practicing today are overburdened by paperwork and restricted reimbursement amounts, all brought about by the powerful medical insurance industry. Doctors used to have time to sit down and become friends with their patients.' Blachley decided against a traditional oral history approach to the book--which she said can sometimes turn aimless--and tried instead to tell a focused tale. "I...made it more of a story, a narrative of their lives,' she said.

Favorite Book of Both My Boys
My first child, "Big Brother" (now 8), had to read this one every night at bedtime. After 2 years of use, we nearly wore out the binding and bought another copy. Now "Little Brother", age 2, is working hard to wear out that one, too, insisting on it every night as well. The book is very simple, with a comfortable, familiar bedtime routine. Illustrations go well with the simple text, and the child in the pictures could easily be either a boy or a girl. I've also bought this as a gift for other new parents. I'm disappointed to see it's now out of print. I plan to save this one for both boys, to give to them when they become parents themselves - it's so special to each of them, it's a family keepsake!

will become your child's favorite bedtime book for years
Children love routines, and this beautiful little book shows the nightly routine of mom & dad getting the baby (could be boy or girl) ready for bed. Long before our son could talk, he could recognize himself as the baby in the story, and would point at all the pictures in the book. Denise Lewis Patrick's drawings are wonderful. It is now my daughter's favorite book, and I buy it for every 2 parent household welcoming the arrival of a first baby.

Good Night, Baby
The story is simple...the illustrations are cute, and that's why our kids insisted on it being read to them every night. The story is about getting ready for bed--taking a bath, putting on your jammies, and reading a story. The baby in the story cannot go to sleep until he finds his favorite toy(a bunny) which is something every child and parent can relate to and therefore makes the story so appealing. Sometimes, the most simple stories are the best. This one has become our children's favorite story from their early childhood.

Griffin & Sabine Trilogy: Griffen & Sabine/Sabine's Notebook/the Golden Mean
Published in Audio Cassette by Publishing Mills (October, 1993)
Authors: Nick Bantock, Maxwell Caulfield, and Marina Sirtis
Average review score:

These books are exceptional, a must read.
Words fail me in description, the best I can do is wow. The story is enthralling, the art beautiful, and the story as original as can be. I loved them.

Passing it on,...
After being introduced to these books in college, I also had to have them. Now that I'm teaching high school English, with a little censoring of language, my enthusiasm shows as they hear the story (and mystery) unfold. It makes them think, guess, hypothesize, get involved, even get angry! I left 35 ninth-graders speechless and hanging on every word!! Imagine that!!

A True Romantic's Love Story
I received the trilogypak for my birthday... I have previously read the books before, and I had to have them for myself. These books explore the dark and myterious world of 'what if' when it comes to romantic love. If you have ever felt that you have a soul mate somewhere in the world, and you felt that somehow, someway, they were with you, watching you, then these stories will enrapture and captivate your mind. This is a must read selection!

Story Is Priceless!
A hysterical lesson in the old adage that cleanliness is godliness. My children loved it!

How did they ever let this one go out of print?
My tattered old copy from when my youngest was a boy is now hardly readable. So I wanted a new copy for my first grand child and I can't find it anywhere! Western, reprint it please!!!

Hilarious! What a find!
Here's a message that every parent wants to send to their kid -- Clean up your stuff! The way P. E. King gets that message across is sheer brilliance. My daughter asks me to read this one over and over again. Then she just laughs and laughs and laughs. . .
